the degree to which data has attributes that correctly represent the true value of the intended attributes of a concept or event in a specific context of use; it has two main aspects: syntatic accuracy (the closeness of data values to a set of values defined in a domain considered syntactically correct - Mary vs Marj) and semantic accuracy (the closeness of the data values to a set of values defined in a domain considered semantically correct - low semantic accuracy means when the name John is stored as George, both names are syntactically accurate, but name point to a different person)
